Ticamericas: The Americas in Medellin

(TIC Americas) is an international business plan competition (BPC) and award program for young entrepreneurs and college students. In 2008, TIC Americas was held for its second consecutive year, this time in Colombia.

The International community celebrates the entrepreneurial talents of the youth from the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, with the presentation of prizes to eight teams whose projects are Winners in the finals of TIC Americas.

These initiatives will develop the extraordinary business potential of innovative young entrepreneurs and scientists, in collaboration with sponsors globally and from the thirty-four Member States of the Organization of American States (OAS).

YABT, a private sector affiliate of the General Secretariat of the OAS, offers opportunities to reinforce young entrepreneur programs through corporate marketing campaigns visibly and tangibly to:

• Connect with the future of business in the Americas and globally and the extraordinary potential that enterprising young entrepreneurs embody
• Be recognized globally and in the context of the OAS as leading young entrepreneurs and corporate citizens of the Americas.

TIC Americas presents awards as an international business plan competition and accelerator for young entrepreneurs. The TIC Americas model goes beyond business plans to include extended training, mentoring, and prototype phases to test the project’s feasibility in the real market. Awards include financial prizes, incubation, internships, as well as promotional and networking opportunities in seven awards areas: E-Business, Creative Design, Tradition and Culture, Spirit of Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, New Markets and International Alliance. This year’s central themes were focused on the environment, trade, technology, tourism and agribusiness.

Last May in the beautiful city of Medellin in Colombia we participated as part of the peruvian team in the Ticamericas competition, version 2008.
